Contemporary Christian artists reflect on Good Friday.

During the Middle Ages, a tradition of prayer and reflection on images of the Passion formed into the Stations of the Cross, a sort of Via Dolorosa of the visual arts. This slideshow of contemporary art, although it doesn't stick to the traditional fourteen stations, can be used as a meditation on Jesus Christ's path to the Cross. Each artist's statement below the art explains how it connects to Christ's sacrifice.

this did nothing for me. i just can't relate to the abstract art.

thank you for supporting modern art. It's a shame so many christians have a limited vision for the arts, thank you for supporting these artists! I really thought the 'redemption 2' and the 'pieces of the true cross' were most striking

I loved the addition of art to this Holy week. I believe art always enhances and it did in this instance as well. What wonderful talent! It's wonderful that in this instance it's used to relate events related to this Holy week.
