The Setting of the Age of Aquarius
"Remember the New Age movement? Now, even the New Agers want out"

Remember the New Age movement? In the 1980s, a flood of Christian apologists said it would be Christianity's greatest threat. Now even the New Agers want out. In March, New Age Journal became Body & Soul magazine. "Even though the title … was a good one and represented ideas of health and wellness and spirituality, towards the end of the 20th century … it gained more negative connotations," editor Jenny Cook told Media Life magazine. "New Age took on things further out on the spectrum, like crystal gazing, that the magazine was never about." Says Regent College philosophy professor Loren Wilkinson: "I'm surprised it hung on to the name so long." Most New Agers stopped using the term 10 to 15 years ago, he says, but the ideas have entered the fabric of our culture.
